The Alliance for Stroke Awareness and Prevention Project (ASAPP) is working to raise awareness about stroke and the importance of recognizing, preventing, and treating high blood pressure, the #1 risk factor for stroke. High blood pressure affects one-third of adults in every country and region of the world. We train and support community volunteers who provide free high blood pressure screening and counseling at places of religious worship. Individuals with high blood pressure are counseled on lifestyle modifications to reduce blood pressure and, if necessary, to seek medical treatment at a government health facility or at a not-for-profit or private clinic.
